Pastor Hal J. Hopkins is the organizing pastor of Great Commission Church.  He currently serves as Pastor of Discipleship.

Pastor Hopkins has a diverse background of leadership and pastoral experience of 25 years.  Having served previously as Senior Pastor of a church in Philadelphia for 15 years, the past 10 years have afforded him the opportunity to serve several congregations as long term interims in diverse ethnic contexts. 

His unique giftedness enables him to easily cross over ethnic and cultural boundaries to build bridges between people groups.  Pastor Hopkins’ preaching gifts, along with his pure pastors heart, combine to create passionate and practiced preaching which both informs the mind and challenges the heart. 

In addition to his pastoral responsibilities at Great Commission Church, Pastor Hopkins serves as the Church Starting Strategist for the Baptist Convention of Pennsylvania/South Jersey.  In this role, he seeks to discover, develop and deploy church planters throughout eastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey.
